Dragonfire District

[ Dramatic may have been an understatement.

Not that she could find it in herself to really complain about it, seeing as this mission had gone a whole lot better than she imagines it would have otherwise. They weren't exactly out of the woods yet, but for the while, there seemed to be some peace- well, how couldn't there be? For once, according to the locals around, the Kazeryuu and Hyoryuu factions were keeping to themselves after what had seemed like them nearly losing their kids in the middle of their conflict. It had given the families pause to stop and rescue their children, the little lords named Bonten and Shigeyuri, from any further harm. Megumi, honestly, couldn't believe her luck when their task turned out to be a lot more engaging than she would have otherwise thought, and despite her initial reluctance, she hadn't complained the entire while. This world, for starters, wasn't a bad one either- it seemed like the best of feudal orientalism had mixed with futuristic mysticism, and it gave this land of Hoshiyama a pretty nice aethetic.

At least for one, they didn't look out of place.

They did have to don some adjusted clothing besides the uniforms they had on them, but that was quickly done- hey, making clothes for her dolls had its perks, and she still remembered most of it. It felt good as well, to be wearing something like she was used to, though the mission itself had required infiltration- and not many were used to a female speaking up the way she did. At the very least, it resulted in getting her respected pretty quickly with her skill, and she was quickly set upon to the little lord Bonten's side, while Masamune was dealing with the gentler Shige, who seemed to actually need a bodyguard compared to the boy Megumi was supposed to be attending to. They also seemed to be quite comfortable with magic here, so that was another bonus- in fact, not many wielded it well enough for that respect, so they were quickly in a position of power and to continue their investigation on what was maintaining this thousand year conflict between the two families.

The locals, at least, had been helpful there, though many already knew of the rumours- that strong, confident Master Bonten and sweet and gentle Master Shige tried to keep themselves away from the conflict like their brothers- and they were forced to create enmity because of the potential for destruction to both houses if they didn't remain in conflict. Megumi had found it odd, because it just seemed like the fighting had given something else control over both families, and sure enough, once that source- the Chaos Dragon, had been discovered by both Masamune and her, the only way to deflect it would be to ensure that both families came together against it. Classic case of divided they fall, aside from the fact that this creature of Chaos only wished to feed on the conflict to empower itself and had been doing so for years and years.

And so, the boys had to fall in love.

It had been Megumi's bright idea, really, and she'd suggested it jokingly, but after both her and Masamune had uncovered what was really going on- well. Their "masters" weren't going to believe it- but the boys themselves? A gentle nudge in the right direction wouldn't hurt, and it certainly wasn't, seeing as how successfully it went. It didn't hurt that the boys were already drawn to each other and hiding their emotions in the face of their eternal family hatred, so all it really took was gently guiding them back where it wouldn't be a failure. Just like tonight, with them both slipping out of their homes while their families left them to rest after that rather brutal confrontation from a night ago, and with the boys getting caught in the crossfire. Megumi had already done her job in healing them both, so all that was left now was giving them room to go and be on their own. She was still keeping an eye on them, of course, together with Masamune, but for the most part? The boys finally got to be on their own, away from their families, and spend the night as they pleased. She felt completely satisfied with herself there, and Masamune- damn, who'd have thought working together with a samurai warlord would end up being this much fun? Not that he hadn't already shown himself to being quite the wild guy once he came out of his shell- surprisingly enough? But working together with Date Masamune. After all that they'd been through, she still found herself feeling a little giddy thinking that he considered her a comrade and friend now.

Especially when she recalls how he was when she first entered Oska, and how he seemed then- almost frightening and angry. Yet looking at how things went after that? She has a feeling he enjoyed this a whole lot more than her, and still was. Their job wasn't done, but hell, they're still having a good time.

Chaos Dragon, you're going down, she finds herself thinking smugly, and by everything she does hope this doesn't screw up now after they've come so far. ]

Benisato District

[ Having become the bodyguards of the sons to the most powerful factions in this land of Hoshiyama, they did have their own residences nearby- though compared to where the factions were located, their place was in a more modern part of town with all the fixings and trappings a girl like her could appreciate. Not that the Dragonfire District lacked anything- even in the veil of feudalism, it housed some pretty incredible technology, though she did like it a little more straightforward here. It reminded her of home a bit, though there were some interesting perks to the place that she wishes actually did exist there. Like the sky garden in their building that made it feel like they were walking on any surface they wanted, including a starry sky or a pool of water or glimmering, bioluminiscent grass. She's settled for a starry sky, matching the very incredible view overlooking the business district in the distance where the families held their seats of power. She'd dressed back down at least and was poking the Squidgy she'd named Droplet, causing it to giggle and make silly sounds for her while setting it on the railing. It was well behaved, at the very least, and she lets it jump off and run back inside to their penthouse suite to go and join its friend in the tank she got for it.

She wonders, as she glances to her side, if Masamune misses this life- not a modern life, because he doesn't come from one, but a life of actually protecting people- of leading them in his position of power, and keeping them safe. She has noticed a change from when they'd first met to now, and it's- pleasant and warming almost, to see how much he's opened up. It doesn't hurt that he's pretty darn handsome compared to the books she used to read (the manga did him far more justice) and she could always ship him with the cuties from his world. Ah, the very thought of him being ploughed into while being held down and gasping and moaning in intense pleasure... her hands go to her cheeks as she realizes this is the most fun she's had since arriving in this hot mess of a situation, and she's glad for once- that being stuck here, she actually has someone who she knows, by now, she does care for and would protect the way she does her friends back home.

No matter that she can't remember them, but she knows she would.

Watching the Squidgy run off, she follows it, moving to stop and stand by the railing next to Masamune and looking him over. She knows he's taken a caring attitude towards his young new master Shigeyuri- and it helps that he's kind and cute, too. Looking smug, she moves her elbows to the railing and gives him a playful grin. ]

Looks like I win this bet, Dragon-man. I'd said the boys had totally fallen for each other and we'd see them come through, and you doubted it. Granted it almost got them killed...

[ She shudders at the thought, because as annoying as Bonten was with her and kept trying to lift her skirt, she'd begun to care for the kid herself. ]

... but they'd have rather died than see the other fall. You owe me a pretty meaty meal!

[ What she hasn't noticed about herself though? She's started smiling a lot more, too. Maybe it's just something in the air- but she's not yelling and cursing at people around them... well, when she doesn't have to. The tsun never dies, after all.

Guess having a friend worth protecting can do that, huh? ]
